FIELD NOTES
‘Mount’, replaced traditional stretcher bars for structures embodying distance//travel, weather-worn commercial by-products, that was already banished to the dumpster. A dumpster dive and some TLC the shipping pallets helped my articulate ‘the divide of self’ which has now matured and metastasized as an undercurrent to my creative praxis. Putting to form my travels across the Sonoran desert, the lack of honesty I had within my faith/identity/sexuality, fragility in my personal voice, foundations, and opinions - this exhibit was a real marker of honesty for both my art and self.
So many lil avenues to continue to explore from the work of my first solo exhibition, ‘1.48.116’, back in 2017 - recycled materials, copper wire embroidery, sculpture, and installation guiding/obstructing/interrupting the gallery viewer, alternative stretcher bars, object derived aesthetics, and play of sculpture vs. painting.
