My first work in stained glass, took on challenging interior cuts of a male figure, the sculpture heralding the entrance of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Classics department. The piece was inspired by dissecting identity, physical fracturing, and self-portraiture. It has served as an inspiration for the large-scale stained-glass panel series 'sub//ject' which has been sponsored by my current Artistic Fellowship with Dickies and COLLAB Innovation Lab. In conjunction with an educational scholarship with UrbanGlass of Brooklyn, NY, I will introduce self-blown neon tubing, laser-etched figuration, glass beadwork fusing, and cold-working techniques to the panels. This upcoming series considers who we are in fractured times, what binds us, the proclamation of identity, identity hierarchy, and methods of trauma healing.
